Welcome to your union!

Welcome to UAW 2750, the union of Fellows at the National Institutes of Health. Our members are postbacs, predocs, postdocs, research fellows, and clinical fellows across NIH campuses, united by a shared belief that the people doing the work deserve a say in the conditions of that work.

In 2023, Fellows voted 97.8% to form our union. In 2024, we ratified our first-ever contract with a 98.3% yes vote — one of the strongest mandates in recent labor history. We won guaranteed paid parental leave, fully-paid insurance premiums, enforceable protections against harassment and discrimination, and annual pay increases, among many other historic gains.

What we've won

Our union is us—the Fellows at NIH. We’re the ones sitting across the table from NIH management, writing and voting on our contract, and deciding how our local runs. We stand together to make NIH a place where research is sustainable and Fellows can thrive, so our work from bench and bedside reaches its full potential and benefits our communities.

Through our union, Fellows secured rights that strengthen our work and lives: fair pay that grows with experience, secure healthcare, paid parental leave, relocation benefits, telework options, and protections against harassment and unfair dismissal. These gains—and the ability to ensure they are respected and build upon—come from all of us standing together.
